Aicar

$74.00 / 10 Vials

AICAR is a potent cell-permeable activator of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). In metabolic research, it is highly valued for its ability to stimulate glucose uptake and increase the activity of lipid-burning enzymes. By mimicking the effects of physical exercise at a cellular level, AICAR promotes the conversion of fast-twitch muscle fibers to slow-twitch, endurance-oriented fibers, significantly enhancing aerobic capacity and fat oxidation in experimental models.

Mechanism of Action

AMPK Activation: AICAR is phosphorylated intracellularly into ZMP, an analog of AMP. ZMP binds to the AMPK complex, "tricking" the cell into a low-energy state, which triggers a systemic metabolic shift.

Enhanced Glucose Uptake: It stimulates the translocation of GLUT4 (glucose transporters) to the cell membrane, allowing muscles to absorb glucose more efficiently without needing insulin.

Mitochondrial Biogenesis: It promotes the creation of new mitochondria via the PGC-1$\alpha$ pathway, improving the overall oxidative capacity of the tissue.

Lipid Metabolism: AICAR inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol while simultaneously promoting the breakdown of stored fats for energy.

Storage & handling

Storage:Store the lyophilized vial in a cool, dry area protected from direct sunlight.
