| Mechanism of Action | AMPK Activation: AICAR is phosphorylated intracellularly into ZMP, an analog of AMP. ZMP binds to the AMPK complex, "tricking" the cell into a low-energy state, which triggers a systemic metabolic shift. Enhanced Glucose Uptake: It stimulates the translocation of GLUT4 (glucose transporters) to the cell membrane, allowing muscles to absorb glucose more efficiently without needing insulin. Mitochondrial Biogenesis: It promotes the creation of new mitochondria via the PGC-1$\alpha$ pathway, improving the overall oxidative capacity of the tissue.
